Chelsea in-stand skipper Didier Drogba dismissed speculation that recent rumours over boss Carlo Ancelotti's future has affected the side’s performance after their come from behind victory over European newcomers MSK Zilina at Stamford Bridge.

When asked by Sky Sports after the game if he believed Ancelotti was ready to quit, the Ivory Coast international said: “No, the manager made clear that he is here and I think that we have to focus on the games and the results and try to recover because we are not playing well. We have a lot of injured players that we hope can come back very soon.”

When asked how the speculation affected the team, Drogba claimed: “We don’t speak about this, I think we really focused on the game we lost against Birmingham and I don’t read the press, I think the other boys didn’t as well.

"We have to get back to winning ways, but it’s not easy.”

Then when he asked about the recent departure of assistant manager Ray Wilkins, Drogba said: “Of course we miss Ray, but the players are still the same, so it’s our responsibility.

"It’s difficult to put it [the loss of form] on Ray’s departure and puts pressure on Michael Emenalo, when it is our responsibility to win games.”

Daniel Sturridge, who scored Chelsea's first goal early in the second half before Florent Malouda completed the comeback with four minutes remaining, believed the result will help confidence within the squad.

“We wanted to put a performance on for the fans out there and to gain our confidence back and with the performance we put on today, I’m sure we’ve done that," he said.

“The most important thing for us was to play as a team and if we did that then the goals were going to come and luckily for us, as we started to play our football, things happened for us.”
