‘Nobody Died At Star Megajam’ – NB PLC

Rumours have been flying round, about this year’s Star Megajam which held in Lagos and Abuja last weekend. Sources say there was a stampede at the Abuja concert, leading to multiple injuries. But, while there are reports that some fans died as a result of the stampede, the organisers, through the statement below (made available to us just minutes ago), insist nothing of such happened.
The attention of Nigerian Breweries Plc has been drawn to a misleading news report carried by some News Media alleging that some people died at the star mega jam concert which ended in Abuja early Sunday morning.
Nigerian Breweries wishes to state categorically that the story is completely false and without any substance.  NOBODY DIED at the concert as alleged. There were reported cases of minor injury sustained by 13 people as a result of the rush that occurred when a huge crowd of people tried to gain entry into the venue.

Those injured were promptly taken to the National Hospital, Abuja, for further treatment by the Critical Rescue International team which had 3 Ambulances on ground. The hospital authorities have confirmed that the injured have been treated and discharged.
The concert, like the Lagos leg attracted a huge crowd which is normal for a concert featuring an A-list artiste like R Kelly. We thank those who have called in to confirm this report and urge the general public to discountenance this false reports .The concert as confirmed by many was a huge success.

Nigerian Breweries Plc wishes to use this opportunity to thank all who attended the concerts both in Lagos and Abuja for their support and patronage over the years.
