Rafael Benitez is no longer the Inter coach, the club said in a statement after rescinding the contract by mutual agreement.
Inter and Rafael Benitez have parted company by mutual consent, the club said in a statement on Thursday.
A note on the club's official website reads:
"F.C Internazionale and Rafael Benitez communicate that, mutually and with reciprocal satisfaction, they have reached an agreement for the resolution of their working relationship.
"F.C Internazionale would like to thank Rafael Benitez for his work at the helm of the team which led them to the Supercoppa Italiana and Club World Cup successes.
"Rafael Benitez thanks F.C Internazionale for the important and professional experience and for the victories obtained together."
Inter did not confirm who would step in to the coaching role, but the race is on to sign a proxy. It is said Benitez will pocket around €3 million from the rescission.
Reports around the peninsula suggest former Milan man Leonardo will come in.
