General Election: Dr. Olusola Saraki Dumps PDP

The godfather of  kwara state politics and Chairman of the Northern Union, Dr. Olusola Saraki has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for All Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN).
Speaking to his supporters on Sunday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Dr. Saraki says the move became necessary because some forces have taken over the PDP in Kwara State, leading to the assault and intimidation of his supporters.

Futhermore, he described as unfortunate the situation where those not involved in the building of PDP capitalize on inexperience of leadership to perpetuate themselves into tin gods.

Saraki, said he was never a card-carrying member of the PDP, and disclosed that he had already put President Goodluck Jonathan into confidence over his decision.
During the ward congresses in the state, it was alleged that the candidates of the elder Saraki were shut out, leading to the emergence of all the candidates of the incumbent as delegates for the forthcoming elections.

The development prompted the elder Saraki to quit the PDP to enable him realize his ambition.
“I recently told President Goodluck Jonathan about this a few days ago and he said he would look into it. But I told him I would leave the PDP. The party’s constitution says that you conduct primaries through delegates. But having locked the door against my people, I have to leave.” Saraki said
